Developing Your Character As You Climb the Success Ladder

As I write this blog post, we are living in a time where women are doing more than they have ever done: Women are starting companies, traveling the world to speak, building successful careers, raising children alone, writing books, leading fortune 500 companies and so much more.

However, in all that you do to obtain success, be sure that you develop your character as you go up. After 13 years in business and years of reading personal development books, I have really discovered that: money only makes you more of what you all ready are.

I say this from experience. Many of my character flaws were not discovered until I expanded my business. In fact, it seemed like the more that my business grew, the more that I discovered personal character flaws such as: a negative attitude, impatience and many other personal issues.

After I discovered the issues that could have eventually hindered my success, I decided to develop a personal development plan. I watch motivational videos on a daily basis, listen to personal development cd’s in my car and I am constantly feeding my mind by reading inspirational books.

So in other words, if you have a negative self image or character issues, as you climb the success ladder, those issues may be the enemy of your success. If you do not deal with it as you go to new levels of success, you could find yourself with success and a heap of sorrows.

In summary, I want to leave you with these words. Many people have their very own definitions of success. In fact, I define Success as being whole in all areas of my life: Marriage, parenting, business and in relationships. Moreover, if any one of those areas are out of wack, I deal with it, so that one area does not affect another.

What is it that you feel that you need to work on as you climb the success ladder? How do you define success? I look forward to your thoughts and comments about this post.
